SUPPORTERS of the Rotary Club of Adliya were recognised for their contributions at an award ceremony held at the Diplomat Radisson SAS, Hotel, Residence and Spa. Club president Talal Al Mannai awarded various companies, societies, members of the Press and club board members for their outstanding support to the club throughout the last year.
Of those to be awarded was Bahrain Philanthropic Society general-secretary Hassan Ibrahim Kamal for working with the club to help needy Bahrainis.
In 2003 the Rotary Club of Adliya in co-operation with the Bahrain Philanthropic Society and Bahrain Duty Free formed the Triad Joint Committee that works to renovate needy Bahraini homes. Since it was formed the committee has restored 12 houses.
At the award ceremony Mr Al Mannai announced the club’s achievements during his presidency which officially ends this month.
He said the club had received two certificates of merit from the Rotary District Award Committee, one for its public awareness and the other for the Bahrain Model United Nations.

The club raised more than BD30,000 at various charity and community events including a bowling tournament, an art competition and Bahrain Model United Nations.
A total of BD20,000 will be directed to support the Social Development Ministry’s art workshop for the disabled and other funds will go to local charity projects.
Mr Al Talal will step down from his position as president at a joint hand-over gala dinner taking place at Al Zahle Restaurant, Gulf Hotel, this evening.
