Monday 24 Jan ‘11 - As is customary, the Rotary Club of Adliya enjoyed a wonderful social evening on the third Monday of the month. This time, we met at Lanterns Restaurant, one of the leading Indian restaurants in the Kingdom, who laid out a sumptuous buffet spread which satisfied our pallet.


What was even more fun is that this time, we actually had a number of Rotarian families and guests and a great many laughs were heard and the conversation was non-stop.

Did you know that some months actually five Mondays instead of four? Did you also know that in the Rotary Year 2010/2011 this strange phenomenon occurs five times? Well, in honour of our meeting on Mondays, the Rotary Club of Adliya decided that we should do something very special every 5th Monday.


The last time this happened - on Nov 29th, 2010 - Rotarian Khulood Al-Qattan, Service Projects Chairperson, and President Mahmood Al-Yousif visited the Children’s Oncology Ward in Salmaniya Medical Complex, the main medical facility in the Kingdom.


This time, we’re inviting you to join us in giving blood!


Bahrain suffers from an inordinate number of patients suffering from thalassemia, sickle-cell anemia and other assorted ailments who need blood transfusions as a matter of course, so blood is always needed. Please, invite your friends, family and colleagues to come and donate blood as well, the more the merrier. This will be at the Salmaniya Hospital Blood Bank on Monday 31.1.11 at 5PM.

So make a difference. Do something amazing. Give Blood!

The Rotary Club of Adliya firmly subscribes to the Rotary ideals, and has diligently worked since inception in 1994 at serving the local and international communities by creating and maintaining several sustainable projects like the RCA Bahrain Model United Nations, Al-Wafa Centre of Autism, Earth Day Competition and others.


The Club meets every Monday from 18:00 - 19:30 in the Officers Club on the 14th Floor of the Elite Resort & Spa, located on the old Muharraq Causeway. Meetings are conducted exclusively in English. Visiting Rotarians are most welcome to attend.

Condolences


It is with sadness that the Club learnt that a relative of PDG Nijad Alatassi passed away yesterday due to health complications.


We extend our deepest condolences to PDG Nijad and his family on this sad loss, asking for Allah’s mercy on the deceased’s soul and to give comfort and solace to his surviving family and friends.
