Monday 7 Feb ‘11 - The arrangements have all been made and the Rotary Club of Adliya will be thrilled to receive more than 200 Cricketers, team officials, umpires and a crowd of Cricket fanatics on Tuesday the 15th of February for the RCA Charity Cricket Tournament 2011.

Ten teams will slug it out then. Seven men’s teams and two ladies teams and one under-19s will take to the pitch from 8am with ladies’ finals expected to take place at 3pm on the same day; while the gents’ final will be at approximately 4pm. Winners will receive trophies and and medals generously sponsored of Alpha Fire Services.

Food will be provided by BMMI’s Great Deli Company’s to the players. Some of the same delicious sandwiches will be available for sale at the venue, other food vendors are expected to be present too, so hopefully no one will go hungry while enjoying the gentle game of Cricket.

Member Profile - Rotarian Fareed Bushehri shared his experience with the membership tonight, taking us all on a varied and extremely interesting journey through his professional life, all the way to being in the midst of Tahrir Square from Jan 23 - 27 and almost being stuck further in Egypt! He tells us that he was one of the last to leave as the authorities shut Cairo airport! For those who couldn’t make it for the meeting, sorry you missed the presentation. If you’re nice and improve your attendance record, maybe we can convince Rotarian Fareed to give us an expanded presentation next time :)

DG Country Visit - AG Ali Follad briefed the Club on the forthcoming District Governor’s visit scheduled from Feb 11 - 14 and went over the visit’s logistics. The Club’s Board is looking forward to meet the District Governor and look forward to be inspired by him to do even better for our community.

Sameer Dawani, R. Yacoob Maklai. Guests present were Dr. Jehan Bichara (guest of R. Dr. Faiza Ghabrial) and Essa Abu Nafisah (guest of PDG Nijad Al-Atassi). The attendance percentage was 43%.
