Rotary Club of Adliya “Pink Walkathon”

The purpose of the RCA Pink Walkathon is to raise funds for two charitable initiatives: “The Gift of Life Bahrain [GOLB]” project which is for the benefit of Children with Congenital Heart Defects in which the Rotary Club of Adliya will purchase necessary medical equipment to be used in the Salmania Medical Centre; and to raise funds for the Think Pink Bahrain charity which will purchase a specialised MRI machine to be housed and used at the Salmania Medical Centre for breast cancer screening. The net funds raised will be equally distributed between these two causes.

The Rotary Club of Adliya would like to thank everyone for their invaluable help and support. In particular, the RCA recognises the Muharraq Governate for their ready assistance and support, the Muharraq Municipality for the provision of the Park, the Ministry of Interior and Traffic Directorate for the provision of security and traffic personnel and for their assistance with traffic at the venue, the American Mission Hospital for the provision of an ambulance, the RCSI for their provision of the event’s marshals, and of course the excellent ladies from Think Pink Bahrain who are an inspiration and for their unceasing enthusiasm and support for the project.

This film is produced by Gulf Broadcast free of charge as part of their CSR and community engagement effort.

This Is Rotary

So what is Rotary?

We are an international group of 1.2 million passionate professionals who are ready and willing to help their local and international communities through 33,000 clubs. We take on big enemies. We’re almost winning the war on Polio. We’ve reduced its prevalence to only 1% of what it was 20 years ago. Hundreds of millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of Rotarians made that happen. And that’s just one of our humanitarian projects.

Welcoming RY09/10

Excerpt from RI President John Kenny’s speech:

In Rotary, everything we are, and everything we aspire to become, lies in the hands of Rotarians in their clubs. If our clubs are congenial and our meetings well run, if our service is carefully planned and competently carried out, if our members are qualified, honest, and respected in their vocations and communities, then all of Rotary will thrive. This is why I say The Future of Rotary Is in Your Hands.

At the Rotary Club of Adliya, we are determined to make 2009/2010 a year where we redouble our efforts to better serve the community, increase our membership and demonstrate leadership.

Under the leadership of our President Hasan Al-Balooshi, programs are already afoot and changes are already in process to achieve this commitment and vision.

We would like to welcome the new Board of Directors of the club and thank the outgoing Board for their efforts in a difficult year.
